Frequently Asked Questions

What should I do before my first session?

You will receive:
• A questionnaire covering early life experiences, education, trauma history, and medical background.
• An indemnity form to sign.

How long is a session?

All sessions last 60 minutes and are offered either in person or online
via Zoom.

What should I bring to a session?

Just yourself. For a TRE® session, please bring a yoga mat if you have,
a cushion and comfy leggings.

If online, have a quiet space and anything that helps you feel grounded—water, a blanket or pillow, and a notebook.

How many sessions will I need?

Every person is unique. Some of you experience relief after just one or two sessions, while others need more time to explore and resolve deeper layers of an issue. To get the most from therapy, you are encouraged to begin with a minimum of three sessions. After that, follow-up sessions can be booked
as needed.

Payment Options

Payments can be made by cash, bank transfer, or PayPal (for you living outside South Africa). Credit card payments are not currently accepted.

Cancellation Policy

To reschedule or cancel an appointment, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice to avoid cancellation fees.

Are sessions confidential?

Yes. I am ethically and legally bound to maintain the confidentiality of all sessions. I will not disclose any personal information without your written consent. However, there are exceptions.
Confidentiality may be broken if:
• Required by a court order.
• You present a serious threat to yourself or others.
In such cases, I will always discuss the situation with you first.
For minors, legal confidentiality is held by the parent or legal guardian.

Is online therapy as effective as in-person sessions?

Yes. Online sessions offer the same connection and healing power, often with the added comfort of being in your own space.

What if I get emotional during a session?

That’s completely normal—and welcome. Emotions are part of healing, and it’s safe to feel them here.

What if I don’t know where to start?

That’s completely okay. You don’t need to have the right words or a full story. We begin wherever you are. Together, we’ll gently explore what’s coming up for you and what you’d like to feel instead.

Do I need to relive past trauma to heal it?

No. You don’t have to retell or re-experience every detail of your past. Many of the methods I use work in the present moment and don’t require deep verbal processing.

Can therapy help even if I’ve tried other things before?

Yes. Many people I work with have tried talk therapy or self-help tools and still felt stuck. These approaches work with your nervous system, offering a deeper kind of healing.

How do I know if this type of therapy is right for me?

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected—and curious about healing gently and holistically—this approach could be a good fit. A free 20-minute consultation can help you decide.

What Is Trauma?

Trauma refers to either a distressing psychological experience or a physical injury. Regardless of the type, it can damage your sense of safety, leaving them feeling helpless or fearful. Psychological trauma often leads to lingering memories, emotional distress, anxiety, numbness, dissociation, and mistrust. Importantly, it is the subjective emotional experience—not the objective facts—that determines whether an event is traumatic.

What Is Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)?

PTSD is a mental health condition marked by symptoms such as flashbacks, hypervigilance, fear, avoidance behaviors, severe anxiety, panic attacks, and recurring memories of a traumatic event. These symptoms last for more than a few weeks and interfere with daily life.
